Atlanta Braves Season 2016
The Atlanta Braves finished the 2016 season with a record of 68-93, good for fourth in the NL East and 22 games out of first. Atlanta was a team led by its young core, which consisted of Freddie Freeman, Julio Teheran and Ender Inciarte. The Braves’ pitching was at the bottom of the league. Their team ERA was 4.51 with 787 runs allowed, both figures ranked as worst in the National League. The only positive from their pitching staff that year was closer Jim Johnson who recorded 41 saves for them. Atlanta’s offense wasn’t much better, as they had a team batting average of .246. They also hit for very little power, as they were last in home runs (141) and slugging percentage (.368). Atlanta’s young core has seen tremendous growth since 2016 and will look to bring the Braves back to their winning ways.
Atlanta Braves Season 2017
The Atlanta Braves season 2017 was the Braves’ 52nd season in Atlanta, 149th overall, and the second season of a rebuild. They improved on their record in 2016 by 5 games, finishing with a 72–90 record. They also improved in runs scored and runs against, as well as in batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging. The Braves fell apart down the stretch, going 11–20 in September and October. The Braves spent most of the first half of the season around .500 and were tied for second place in the NL East on July 18 at 42–42. They lost 15 of their next 17 games, however, and went into a free fall from which they never recovered. During this slump, they fell to last place in the NL East for good on August 2 at 50–62 after losing a doubleheader to the St. Louis Cardinals. Injuries played a part in the collapse; starters Julio Teherán and Mike Foltynewicz both missed time with injuries that eventually ended their seasons early. However, starting pitcher Jaime Garcia pitched well for the Braves after being acquired from the Minnesota Twins.
Atlanta Braves Season 2018
The Atlanta Braves season 2018 was the Braves’ 53rd season in Atlanta, 148th season overall, and the third season at SunTrust Park. The Braves finished the season with a record of 90-72 and won the NL East division for the first time since 2013. They lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Division Series. The off-season began with several key changes for the organization. John Hart stepped down from his position as President of Baseball Operations, replaced by John Coppolella who also retained his role as General Manager. Terry Pendleton was fired as hitting coach and replaced by Kevin Seitzer, who had previously served as hitting coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Kansas City Royals. The biggest change occurred on September 25 when manager Fredi González was fired after a 9-28 start to the 2016 season. Brian Snitker served as interim manager for the remainder of that season and was promoted to full-time manager following the season’s conclusion.

The Atlanta Braves season of 2020 was a very exciting year for all of their fans. The team went from being the worst team in baseball to becoming one of the best teams in baseball. They had a great start to the season and ended it with a championship. The Atlanta Braves 2020 season was the Braves’ 145th season overall and their 50th in Atlanta. The team began the season on February 21, 2020, against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Center and returned home for their home opener against the Detroit Tigers on March 31, 2020. Their home field was Truist Park in Cumberland, Georgia. The Braves clinched a postseason berth on September 22, 2020, after defeating the New York Mets and went on to win their second consecutive National League East title five days later with a win over the Baltimore Orioles. On October 11, 2020, the Braves defeated the Cincinnati Reds in three games to win their first National League Division Series (NLDS) since 2001. However, they would lose in seven games to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series (NLCS).

During a time when players were colorblindly discriminated against, Aaron remained loyal to the Braves franchise — his entire career — and continued to play even as death threats were mailed to him during his chase of Ruth’s home run record. Hank Aaron hit 755 home runs in his career, which is the most by any player in MLB history. He played 23 seasons for the Braves and he was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame in 1982. Hank Aaron is still considered one of the best baseball players to ever live.
Chipper Jones
Chipper Jones was one of the best switch hitters in baseball history and is considered one of the greatest third baseman to ever play the game. He was drafted by the Braves with the first overall pick in the 1990 draft, and made his big league debut in 1993. Chipper Jones was named to seven All Star games, won an MVP award in 1999, and won a World Series with Atlanta in 1995. In addition to being an eight time Silver Slugger winner, Chipper won two batting titles and led the league in on base percentage three times. He finished his career with 468 home runs and a .303 batting average, good for eighth all time among switch hitters.
Greg Maddux
Greg Maddux was the best Braves pitcher ever and one of the best pitchers of all time. He was a two-time Cy Young winner with the Braves. Maddux is a four-time winner of the Cy Young. He is also one of only 3 players to win at least 18 games for 17 straight years. He was also an 8-time Gold Glove and a 4-time Silver Slugger.
Dale Murphy
Dale Murphy is the best Brave of all time. He played with the team from 1976-1990, winning the National League MVP award twice and the Silver Slugger Award five times. In his career, he hit 398 home runs and had a batting average of .265. A seven-time All-Star who was named National League MVP twice, Murphy led Atlanta to the 1982 pennant and played center field for the Braves from 1976 through 1990. He’s considered one of the best defensive players ever and is a member of baseball’s Hall of Fame.
Tom Glavine
Glavine, a left-handed pitcher who played for the Braves from 1987-2002 and in 2008, was the winningest pitcher in team history and the only Brave to win 300 games. He won two Cy Young Awards in Atlanta — in 1991 and 1998 — and helped lead the Braves to two World Series appearances, taking home the series MVP award in 1995. Glavine also was known as an excellent hitting pitcher and won the Silver Slugger Award twice. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014.
