What is Fitness? The Four Types and What They Mean to You
You see them everywhere: people jogging, people lifting weights. But you ask yourself “What is Fitness?” What are all these people doing? Should I be doing a bit of both? The question buzzing around your head and in my mind as well.
When someone asks you what is fitness you don’t need to be able to explain everything there is to know about it. While they are different and vary depending on your reason for being active, the whole idea behind being fit comes down to wanting to be healthy in your mind, body, and spirit. Exercise brings out the best in all of us and the benefits of being fit are unlimited.
There are four types of exercise: aerobic, muscle-strengthening, bone-strengthening and stretching.
Aerobic activity, which speeds up your heart rate and breathing, is the foundation of most fitness programs. Examples are brisk walking, jogging, swimming, and biking. Aerobic activity strengthens your heart and lungs. As your cardiovascular fitness improves, you can increase the intensity of your workouts to burn more calories.
Muscle-strengthening activities make you stronger. They include lifting weights and using a resistance band or your own body weight for resistance (e.g., push-ups, pull-ups and sit-ups). They help maintain muscle mass as you age — something that’s critical for healthy aging. They also improve balance and coordination, which can help reduce your risk of falling.
Bone-strengthening activities build bone density and strength. These include hopping, jumping rope and running. The impact from these activities causes your bones to absorb more calcium than usual.
Stretching exercises improve flexibility, allowing muscles and joints to bend and move easily through their full range of motion. This can prevent injuries during exercise or daily activities such as reaching into the back seat while driving or bending down to pick up an object off the floor.
Practice Yoga And Live A Healthier, Happier Life
Yoga has existed for thousands of years. It started as a spiritual practice but has grown in popularity as a way to promote physical and mental health.
Many studies have attempted to determine the effectiveness of yoga as an additional intervention for cancer, schizophrenia, asthma, and heart disease. No matter what you’re hoping to achieve, being open to the yoga experience is key.
The problems of stress, depression, or trouble sleeping because of overthinking will also be thoroughly solved thanks to Yoga. Yoga forces the body and mind to relax. Positive thoughts are retained, negative and evil auras will be pushed away.
Yoga brings us great benefits. People who practice Yoga for a long time will have a good health, a sexy body, a well-balanced body and a spirit that is always in the best state, comfortable and relaxed. This will definitely be a subject that you cannot ignore.
Boxing Benefits You May Never Have Heard Of
Boxing is a sport that has been around for centuries and continues to be popular today. Boxing is a combat sport in which two people, usually wearing protective gloves, throw punches at each other for a predetermined set of time in a boxing ring.
There are many benefits to taking up the sport that you may not realize. Boxing is a great way to get in shape and stay healthy, but it also teaches you discipline and helps with your self-confidence.
The main benefit of boxing is the type of workout that it provides. Many of the movements involved in boxing are functional movements that will improve your everyday life and overall health.
For example, when you punch, you rotate your core, which builds strength in your obliques, back muscles and abs. All of these muscles help you to move better and improve posture. Moving better decreases the likelihood of injury from daily activities.
Boxing is a sport that rarely gets the recognition it deserves. It is truly a unique and fulfilling sport, worthy of your time and hard work. If you’re interested in boxing, don’t wait any longer. Pick up the gloves, put on the wraps and get to it!
